Product Review: Blueberry muffin Nakd bar
Nakd have introduced this new ‘Blueberry Muffin’ raw fruit and nut bar. it’s gluten, dairy, and wheat free, so a good option for those who are intolerant to certain foods or following a vegetarian / vegan diet.
The bar was on offer at Sainsbury’s for 50p, and usually retails at 85p for a single bar, although may be available in packs for a lower price per unit. This pricing is in-keeping with other bars in the Nakd range.
The bar’s appearance and texture is similar to other Nakd bars – brown, solid, slightly sticky to touch. The taste is surprisingly similar to a blueberry muffin! It’s fruity, light, with a distinctive blueberry aftertaste. I ate mine along with a cup of coffee as a mid-morning sweet treat.
Of the Nakd bars I’ve tried so far, I’d say this Blueberry muffin one, along with a banana bread flavour, is my favourite. Others in the range include Bakewell tart, red berries, and chocolate orange.
Ingredients: dates, cashews, raisins, almonds, blueberries
Calories per bar: 130
Carbohydrates per bar: 19g (of which sugars 18.2g)
Because this bar is made from dried fruit, the naturally occurring sugar content is quite high. For this reason, I wouldn’t have multiple bars a day, and would have it along with a drink or meal, to limit the potential damage caused to teeth.
All in all, this bar is a great healthy alternative snack to baked goods.
